Question 1
Long FormWhy do many celebrities despise being interviewed, as mentioned in Part I?
Many celebrities despise being interviewed because they view it as an unwarranted intrusion into their personal lives. They feel that interviews diminish their public image and steal a part of their true identity. In the chapter, Christopher Silvester explains that some famous personalities consider it a traumatizing experience. For example, V.S. Naipaul felt wounded by interviews, believing people lose a part of themselves in the process. Lewis Carroll had a deep horror of being lionized and actively avoided interviewers to maintain his privacy. Similarly, Rudyard Kipling aggressively condemned interviews, going as far as calling them immoral, cowardly, and a crime comparable to a physical assault. Celebrities often feel victimized by the probing nature of reporters, preferring to keep their private thoughts and lives away from the highly judgmental public eye.
