Question 1
Quick RecallHow does Derry get into Mr. Lamb's garden, and why?
Derry enters Mr. Lamb's garden by climbing over the boundary wall, even though the garden gate is completely open. He climbs the wall because he assumes the house and garden are empty, and he is desperately seeking a secluded place to hide from the judgmental eyes of the world. Because of his severely burnt face, Derry hates being around people who stare at him or pity him. He simply wants a quiet, isolated spot where he can be entirely alone with his thoughts.
