For example, in cold regions like Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, people keep cattle on the ground floor because the animals' body heat helps keep the upper living floors warm during winter. This is a clever way to stay warm without using extra electricity or firewood.

Ancient Indian systems like Vaastu Shastra also guide the design of buildings to stay in harmony with nature. By placing windows, doors, and courtyards correctly, homes can stay bright and airy using natural sunlight and wind. Traditional houses often had thick walls and small windows to keep interiors cool in summer and warm in winter, showing that sustainable living has long been a part of Indian culture.
