Key concept recap
The Blue Planet from Space
When astronauts like Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla look at Earth from the International Space Station, it looks like one single home without any borders. From high up, the planet appears tiny and we cannot see specific details like our own streets or villages. Instead, we see the broad shapes of land masses and the deep blue sea, which is why Earth is often called the Blue Planet.
Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma was the first Indian to see Earth from space and described India as the best in the entire world. These views remind us that despite our different countries and states, we are all part of one single humanity. Earth is our only home in the universe that supports life, and we all live in it together.
