Introduction to Plant Anatomy
Plant anatomy is the study of the internal structure of plants. Just as external morphology reveals structural similarities and variations, internal structures also show significant similarities and differences among plants. Plants are built from cells as the basic unit, which are organised into tissues, and tissues are in turn organised into organs.
Different organs in a plant differ in their internal structure. Within angiosperms, monocots and dicots are anatomically distinct from each other. Internal structures also reflect adaptations to diverse environments, making anatomy essential for understanding plant function and adaptation.
