Key concept recap
Introduction
The foundation of any organisation is its talented and hardworking people, who are the principal assets of any firm. Growth of an organisation requires the continual infusion of quality staff, making adequate staffing an essential requirement for organisational success. It is broadly accepted that an organisation can achieve its objectives only when it has the right persons in the right positions.
Staffing is described as the managerial function of filling and keeping filled the positions in the organisation structure. It begins with identifying workforce requirements and includes recruitment, selection, placement, promotion, appraisal, and development of personnel. In a new enterprise, staffing follows planning and organising; in an existing enterprise, it is a continuous process because new jobs may be created and some employees may leave.
